Learn how to send money to others and receive payments into your Kixy Accounts. Kixy offers two main ways to transfer money: sending to other Kixy users (peer-to-peer transfers) and sending to non-Kixy users (external transfers). This guide will walk you through both ways.

Sending money

Adding a new Contact

Before you can send money to anyone for the first time, you'll need to add them as a contact in your Kixy app. This helps make future transfers quicker and more secure. Here's how to do it:

  1. Open the Kixy app

  2. Tap on Send Money from the wallets screen or Tap on Kixy It on the main screen

  3. When prompted to Select Contact, tap the plus + sign in the bottom corner

  4. From the Add New Contact menu, choose how to add your contact
    - By Email: Enter your contact's email address. If they're a Kixy user, the app will automatically recognise their account
    - By Phone Number: Input your contact's mobile number. Similar to email, the app will identfy if they're already using Kixy
    - By QR Code: If you're with your contact in person, they can generate a QR code from their Kixy app for you to scan
    - By Bank Account Details: You can add them using their traditional banking information

Once you've added a contact, they'll be saved to your contact list for easy access during future payments and transfers. You can manage and edit your contacts at any time.

Sending money to non-Kixy users

When sending money to someone who doesn't use Kixy, the process works similarly to a traditional bank transfer. Here's what you need to do:

  1. From the Wallets screen, tap Send Money

  2. Select your saved contact from the list you want to make a payment to

  3. Choose which account you want to send from

  4. Enter the amount you wish to send

  5. Review the transfer details, including:
    - Their name and account details
    - The amount and currency being sent
    - Any applicable fees and exchange rates

  6. If everything looks correct, confirm the transfer and send your payment

Sending money to Kixy users

Sending money to fellow Kixy users offers additional features and more social experience. You have two convenient ways to send money to other Kixy users:

Option 1: Sending from the Wallet Screen
This method is similar to sending money to non-Kixy users, but with extra features:

  1. Follow the same initial steps as above

  2. Before confirming your transfer, you'll see an option to personalise your payment with a sticker!

  3. When you send the payment, your contact will receive:

    • An instant notification in the app

    • An alert in your 1-to-1 chat with them

Option 2: Sending through Chat

Kixy offers a a convenient way to send money to the contact you are having a direct conversation with!

  1. Open the chat conversation with the contact you want to pay

  2. Look for the plus + symbol next to the message input field

  3. Tap it to reveal a menu of payment options:

    • Send money: Direct payment to your contact you're chatting with
