Why is my transaction pending?

There are a few reasons why a transaction is pending:

Card Payments:

Card payments are processed in two stages:

  • When you make the payment, we take the money from your available balance and hold it until it is collected by the merchant.

  • Normally it takes between hours to a few days for the merchant to collect the money and "complete" the transaction.

During the time between the two stages, your payment will remain "pending".

Note: sometimes merchants hold on to payments for the durations of using their service until they are happy to release the payment. This can be up to 28 days for car hire and hotel reservations and other hire services.

If the money is not collected within the expected timeframe (generally 7 to 15 days), the money will be released back to your account.

Money Transfers:

While we do our best to process all payments as quickly as possible, sometimes it might take longer for the transfer to be processed. If the transfer is still pending after 2 days, you can contact our support team via our webchat system and we will be happy to help.

Cancelled Payments: if there was a request for the funds to be cancelled, whilst this is being process it will show in your transactions as ‘pending’. Once the payment has been cancelled, the money will be released.
